Cognitive tests for Alzheimer's

Encouraging seniors to use digital products

It is essential to explain to users how an application works, especially when it offers a medical service which is still unknown. This is the role of the onboarding screens, which should be brief, clear and friendly.

To achieve this, together with the UX designer team, I wrote simple, empathetic texts – minimised the number of screens to create a user account quickly – created hypertext links for the few complicated but essential words to access their definition – used contrasting colours for the navigation elements in compliance with the accessibility guidelines recommended for medical products – and, finally, illustrated the different steps with concrete patient/physician scenarios.

Making medical tests playful

For the results to be scientifically and medically valid, memory tests tend to be long and repetitive. That's why it's so important to make a game out of them, both to play down the Alzheimer's situation and to get the patient enthusiastically involved in the user journey.

A website as a medical package insert

As the app is certified as a medical device, its website is considered a package leaflet, just like a drug. This means that its textual and graphic content must comply with the numerous rules of strict legislation. I have attempted to make it a user-friendly "place" despite these stringent requirements.
